From the reviews
We have been a member of the 171 Cedar Arts center for almost a year now. Our daughter of age 3 has been taking their Creative Movement class and we can not say enough positive things about her instructor. The teachers at 171 really want to be there and cultivate an environment for kids to learn and love dance.
They offer an assortment of classes, not just visual arts. My son has done the teen experimental art there multiple times and enjoyed it immensely. He also takes a couple different instrument lessons there - piano and violin, and it's convenient as far as location and the selection of teachers is great.
The Cedar Arts Center is an exceptional hub for arts and culture. The welcoming atmosphere and dedication to the arts are palpable. The staff is friendly and eager to help, adding to the overall positive experience.
I've only dealt with the ceramics/wheel throwing classes -- everyone I've met has been helpful, and kind. The ceramics instructors are great at their craft. The structured and organized classes are heaven sent and I'm so grateful to have this opportunity close enough (30 minutes) to do it every week.
Your first ballet class at 171 Cedar Arts Center
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
