We love A Step Above! My daughter is dancing here for 14 years, since she was 2 years old. I am so happy we found such a wonderful dance studio! The owners Lydia & Ashley are warm & loving. The teachers are all amazing! We have both made so many lifelong friends & they have become our 2nd family!
I just have to say what an amazing Dance Studio this is. My daughter has learned and advanced in her dance tremendously since joining A Step Above Performing Arts. The teachers are exceptional, warm and friendly, very talented and most important bring out the best in the children that go there.

Best dance place in Massapequa and we have tried a few!!! Lots of classes offered including tumbling & musical theater 🎭 I could not be happier that I switched my daughter to this school. She has truly blossomed into a very talented dancer who has made tons of lifelong friends.
Your first ballet class at A Step Above Performing Arts
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
