My preschooler has grown so much since she started dance classes with AFS. She was briefly at another studio but this is leaps and bounds more professional, clean and student-focused. Her ability to pay attention and follow directions outside of class has improved thanks to these lessons.
Angela Floyd has taken her passion for dance to a further extraordinary level with the Preschool Performing Arts Program. Our daughter, Rhiannon, began at age 3 in the inaugural class of 2015 and continued the following year.
Angela Floyd School For Dance and Music do so much to support the arts in Knoxville and not only within their school, but also in other schools. Last school year I applied for a grant to buy a smaller size double base for a student who needed a smaller instrument.
I'm always impressed by Ms Katherine's ability to handle so many little kids at once and my daughter LOVES being in her class. She was so upset that she wouldn't be able to take her next level ballet class with her. The spring performance was a blast. I brought 10 family members.

Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
