From the reviews
Ballet Arts is our hometown dance Studio in midtown Manhattan. Jan and Easter have made a safe haven for all Dancers to train. Healthy snacks are provided for energy and in between class perk ups! Studios are the biggest column less rooms to dance in the heart of NYC!
What a lovely experience. I was recommended this studio and, while in New York, I went for it! I took Antoinette’s class and it was truly inspiring, with a great balance of hard work and musicality. I felt very welcome! The woman in the reception was friendly and the overall energy felt uplifting and safe.
Ballet is NOT only for ladies! Being an adult male with no prior ballet experience, I was struck by its artistry and had always wanted to try it. Fast forward, took quite a few classes in NYC and while travelling for work internationally and liked Simon’s teaching style the best. He is straightforward, NO BS!!
This is, without a doubt, one of the best dance studios in Manhattan. Located conveniently at 56th and 6th, the space itself is simply magnificent. The studio is incredibly large with soaring high ceilings and, best of all, absolutely no columns, which makes it perfect for any kind of movement.
Your first ballet class at Ballet Arts Center for Dance, NYC
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
