From the reviews
When our daughter was very little, she asked to do ballet. I didn't know anything about ballet or where to take classes. We just knew we didn't want her doing competitions or dressing inappropriately for performances. We knew several families who highly recommended Blue Springs Ballet.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An absolute gem of a studio! Both of my daughters started dancing at Blue Springs Ballet when they were just 3½ years old — and I even started myself at 40! Fast forward 14 years, and I can emphatically say ballet has been one of the best investments we’ve ever made for our family.
The best ballet studio in the area. We drive 40 minutes each way and it's absolutely worth the trips. My oldest daughter has been learning so much over the past year. They put up a super high quality Nutcracker show every year!
They don't take outside dancers at older ages from what we've experienced. I just applied for Summer school '25 with them. Rejected with no eval, no audition..just all previous enrollers took all that space. 😂 As a result we are headed to Manhattan for her Summer dance intensive.
Your first ballet class at Blue Springs Ballet & Performing Arts
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
