Love our local Performing Arts Center. Always here for Joe Clair and Friends on the last Sat of each month. Also love that it's near my home, secure and secluded yet feels like you are in the city. This is a great addition for the City of Bowie. Got to take some photos after the show with the comedians.
A Night of Whitney: A Review of the Tribute Concert Last Saturday in Bowie, MD, we were transported back to the golden age of pop music with a fantastic tribute to the legendary Whitney Houston. From the moment the lights dimmed and the first notes echoed through the venue, we were captivated.
I took my family to a wonderfol performance on 12/18/21 - The Bell! The dancers did a beautiful job, the outfits were creative and elegant, the music uplifting! The center was comfortable, clean and inviting. Overall, an unforgettable experience! Thank you spirited dancers!
Very nice playhouse! The appealing auditorium is large and open with great acoustics. The entire facility is modern and well presented. There is a wide variety of shows on offer there. The website gives details of shows to come besides the standards for the Halloween and Christmas seasons.
Your first ballet class at Bowie Center for the Performing Arts
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
