What families & students say
“The Classical Coffeehouse performances are a wonderful gift to the Penn State students and community!”
From the reviews
We always have a wonderful experience at these events. They carry a nice variety of traveling plays, musicals and musicians every season and offer them at a better than reasonable price. Attending everything on campus at Penn State usually require an additional parking fee.
The Classical Coffeehouse performances are a wonderful gift to the Penn State students and community! Le Consort was superb! They were so good, I had to see them again the next day at the beautiful Penn State Recital Hall and take my sons. We are so blessed with these musical treasures in our university community.
Great place to see shows, concerts, reviews, recitals, and ballet! Every seat has a wonderful view of the stage and the acoustics are fantastic. Well marked seating and helpful, friendly ushers who can assist you.
They've got great performance here. The kids performances are loved by adults too. Looking forward to seeing the next show we have tickets for
Your first ballet class at Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
