Our 2 (going on 3) year old joined the tap/ballet dance class for her age group. Before joining, I texted the number on the website and Reagan was very helpful and answered every question I had. All the prices of the clothes my toddler needed were listed on the website.
We absolutely love CMD! My 5-year-old just started attending, and my older daughter danced here previously, so we’ve experienced the studio at different stages. The instructors are incredibly kind, caring, and dedicated to each child.
CMD Dance Studio is absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and inspired. The instructors are incredibly talented, patient, and genuinely passionate about helping every student improve and shine. The classes are fun, energetic, and well-structured, catering to all skill levels.
We are starting our 7th season with CMD and 2nd on the competitive team. My daughter has taken all styles of dances and has learned so much from each. The staff is wonderful, they not only teach dance but teach the students life skills, and build confidence. All of the music and activities are age appropriate.
Your first ballet class at Central Mississippi Dance
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
