I took my daughter to Downey Dance Center for her very first creative movement class, and it was such a wonderful experience thanks to Miss Julie. My daughter was a little shy and didn’t want me to leave her side at first, but Miss Julie was so sweet, kind, and welcoming.
My daughter is 5 and has been going to ddc for almost 3 years now. She has taken creative movement and tumbling classes. We love the staff! Everyone is so nice and easy to talk to. It’s family run and they treat us like family too. Easy to pay online or in person. The rates are reasonable as well!
ABSOLUTELY wonderful! Go no where else. This is long lol but truthful!!(: My daughter has been going here for a few years and every staff member here is like family and welcoming. We moved homes recently and checked out another dance facility.
Downey Dance Center is the best dance studio around. My granddaughter has been dancing here since she was 5. She is now 15 and still loves dancing here. She even volunteers as a student teacher/assistant. I also have a 3 year old granddaughter dancing here and she is always so excited to attend class.
Your first ballet class at Downey Dance Center
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
