This is our first year here and my daughter’s first year dancing. We love it! We absolutely love Ms. Kim and everyone is so nice! Communication is above and beyond and classes are very fairly priced. The Holiday show was amazing and I can’t wait for the Spring Recital.
We've been at Downstage Center since 2013 and have had a wonderful experience. My oldest daughter started when she was 3 with predance and now all three of my daughters, and myself, dance there. My daughters take ballet, pointe, tap, jazz pop, modern, and hip hop.
We would highly recommend Downstage Center! All 3 of my girls have danced there since the age of 3. My 1 daughter always says she loves going to dance because it helps her to forget all of her problems. They also have made many friends who share the same passion of dance.
I am so impressed with this studio. Not just because my children and now grandchildren dance there but because of what I witness year after year. Alumni students return each year and guest perform in the recital! These students would not miss the chance to come back to the studio they call “family”.
Your first ballet class at Downstage Center
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
