Having been a dance studio owner, dance teacher, and preschool teacher for over a span of 20 years, I had high hopes and expectations for my children’s first dance experience. I enrolled my boy/girl twins in the 18-24 month Separation Class when they were 22 months old.
The best!! My 5 year old has been in since she's 2, and started my youngest one at 18months. They both love dance and look forward to it every week. My 5 year old has loved all her teachers, and they've all be great communicators and helping with anything I asked as a new mom to the dance mom life.
i love it here. they have been especially great during the pandemic making the parents feel safe while keeping the kids happy. they are so welcoming to new dancers instead of just catering to their more competitive students. i really can’t say enough good things about this place!
Great teachers and student teachers work so well with the children. Engaging and my daughter comes home to make me dance.
Your first ballet class at Encore Dance Academy, Inc
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
