Expressions Dance has been a great studio for my daughter who has been there since she was four. She did one year of the academy class and then three years now of the performing company and we have been so impressed with the owner, teachers, and other families.
Every year I am continually blown away by this incredible dance studio and preschool. When we started, it was in a once a week 18 month old mommy and me class and I was so impressed with the organization, the communication, the teachers and staff, and the classes and recitals.
I have two daughters dancing at this studio. The studio makes a conscious effort to avoid a toxic environment, and they keep the dances and costumes age appropriate. My child goes to competitions, and I have seen that other studios don’t always keep things age appropriate.
We absolutely love Expressions Dance Studio. The teachers are kind, encouraging, and truly invested in each dancer’s growth. My daughters look forward to their dance classes and performances and enjoy getting to be in the spotlight. They hold the kids to a strong work ethic while still keeping classes positive and fun.
Your first ballet class at Expressions Dance
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
