From the reviews
This is my 7 year old's fourth year at Focus. She has adored all of her teachers, particularly Miss Sam, who is firm but also kind. She enjoys when the studio enlists some of the older girls to help out with the classes around recital time. The recitals are well run.
I absolutely LOVE so many things about this studio. First of all it's about having fun and just being. I danced as a child and at my studio it was all about winning. Not here there is so much more. The teachers are extraordinary. They are not only talented and patient but they are kind and truely love my children.
We have been a part of this studio for 11 years and we love it. My oldest daughter attended for 8 years and was on company 3 years. My youngest daughter is in her 10th year with the studio and her 4th year with the dance company.
After trying several studios we were so thrilled to find Focus Performing Arts Studio. It became our home studio for many years. We were looking for a studio that truly taught "technique". They provide the core training necessary for a dancer to expand her talent. The owner is actively involved in the studio.
Your first ballet class at Focus Performing Arts Studio
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
