“I went there to see the performance for The Fringe festival, and as usual Garth Fagan did not disappoint.”
From the reviews
I went there to see the performance for The Fringe festival, and as usual Garth Fagan did not disappoint. Their dancers are exceptional, and always enjoy myself when I go there. Rochester should be proud that they have such an organization within its City. And it stayed with the city for 52 years now.
If you ever have a chance to see a performance, go see them...you will not be disappointed! Rochester needs to build a theater that showcases this company. The dances are inspiring and the dancers are incredible. Garth's blending of music, silence, movement, color, rhythm is a masterpiece to behold.
The creativity and talent of Garth Fagan and his dancers is always a joy to be a part of. Thank you Garth Fagan for all you do for the Rochester community and sharing your talent to the world.
An incredible performance. The dance is graceful and powerful and the visual storytelling was moving.
Your first ballet class at Garth Fagan Dance
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
