What families & students say
“My husband and I did a bachata, salsa and footloose routine and Jose Luis was such an amazing teacher that we had so much fun while learning it AND during our first dance !”
“When I lived in Albany NY before moving to Miami, the moves and structures they taught helped me teach beginner salsa in Albany (hobby, I am an attorney).”
“They are a family, and I love the attention they pay not only to the turns, but also the focus on the tumbao, without which people can look like robots.”
“If you’re looking to learn bachata in a supportive and professional environment, I highly recommend taking classes with Jose at Karibe!”
“My child has grown so much in both talent and confidence since joining.”
From the reviews
Jose Luis is one of the best salsa instructors in Miami LA Style. His dedication and patience have truly inspired me to become a salsa dancer with passion. When you go to Salsa Karibe you feel completely happy because you forget everything and is the best workout having fun with friendly people.
I was just wanting to make friends when I moved to the area. So I landed at this dance studio. And so… this is where I met my wife. We met dancing and we became dance partners. Jose Luis Gutierrez was our trainer and instructor. Some of the best memories of my life happened in this dance studio.
I've been attending Karibe Dance Studio for a year now, and it has been an incredible journey! My first class was a private lesson with Jose Luis, and I was blown away by how much I learned in just one hour.
I can’t say enough good things about Karibe! I don’t have a natural talent for dancing but have always wanted to learn salsa. After having a bad experience in a different salsa studio, I came across Karibe’s 8 week progressive beginner’s course. I’ve been hooked ever since!
Adult ballet at Karibe Dance Studio
Karibe Dance Studio runs classes for grown-ups — confirmed on their own site. If you've never taken ballet, or you're coming back to it after years away, this is for you — and a good studio genuinely welcomes a nervous first-timer. A few things worth asking before you go. First, which class to start in — look for one labeled "absolute beginner" or "adult beginner" rather than an open or "all levels" class, so you learn the fundamentals at the right pace. Second, drop-in or term — many adult programs let you pay per class to try it, then move to a term or monthly package once you're hooked. Third, what to wear — comfortable clothes you can move in, plus socks or bare feet, are plenty for a first class; you won't need a leotard or ballet shoes to walk in the door. It's never too late for first position.
Your first ballet class at Karibe Dance Studio
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
