From the reviews
It is impossible to rave enough about Miss Katarina. My son first met her as a student at OBT, and started in her Dance from the Heart Classes after leaving the OBT program. She quickly got him back up to speed after his year off and he is thriving under her warm and joyful approach to dance.
Our son's love of ballet started in kindergarten when Katarina visited his school and introduced all kindergartners to the nutcracker. Ever since, he has taken classes from her. Her commitment to him and all of her students is so impressive.
Our dancer has been with Ms. Katarina for almost three years. We appreciate Ms. Katarina’s program because it challenges our dancer while still being fun. We also appreciate how Ms. Katarina cares deeply about her dancers’ personal growth, and incorporates such lessons into her dance curriculum.
Ms. Katarina is an excellent teacher- my 4 year old loves her classes. She is patient, fun, and obviously an expert! My daughter did the Nutcracker and Swan Lake series, and it's been a great first experience in ballet.
Your first ballet class at Katarina Svetlova - Dance From The Heart PDX
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
