From the reviews
KDC has become a second home to me. From being a student in high school, to now being a part of a wonderful and supportive staff, I feel so very lucky. This studio is welcoming, positive, and truly a family. I have seen students grow immensely as dancers and as individuals.
My daughter has danced in a few different studios in southern Maine, but as soon as we found KDC, we knew it was the perfect fit. She just finished her 4th year dancing in the leveled classes and her 3rd year on the competition team. There are so many options for dancers to pursue careers or just dance for fun!
KDC is a truly wonderful place! Students are taught and guided by highly trained and experienced instructors, in an extremely friendly and welcoming environment. My son feels incredibly proud of himself after every class and performance, and is encouraged and supported by the KDC family!
Great place for kids of all ages to have some fun, dance, exercise, and spend time with other kids their age.
Your first ballet class at Kennebec Dance Centre
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
