From the reviews
New Dance Workshop has been a second home to my daughter since she was just 4 years old. Now 11, she still lights up every time she walks into the studio. She began at the Lansdale location (we miss it!) and now dances at the Harleysville studio, where she continues to grow, shine, and absolutely thrive.
My 2nd grade daughter started taking dance lessons at New Dance when she was in Kindergarten, she absolutely loves it! Her class and instructors have been wonderful, they feel more like a family. We are thankful for the innovative ways New Dance adapted to the many changes they encountered, especially this last year.
We started my daughter in a summer camp at the Lansdale studio when she was 4. She is now 15 and we have never left. When Lansdale lost their lease, we moved to Harleysville as they had the most classes that matched her existing schedule. She was welcomed wholeheartedly into the fold.
My daughter attended Ms. Erin's classes for three years in a row and had a great time. Although she decided that ballet wasn't for her, Ms. Erin was so amazing she almost decided to do another year with her despite "not loving" dance anymore. The studio is reasonably priced, inclusive, and well-run.
Your first ballet class at Marlyn Abramson's New Dance Workshops
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
