From the reviews
I’ve danced for this studio since I was 10 and I am now 18. I love this place!! The teachers are great and they show tremendous love for their students. The studio is always clean and it feels like a safe environment. I 100% recommend this studio, as it was a great experience for me.
Ms Laura and her staff are professional ballet instructors who share their passion with a number of students ranging in various age groups. Her shows are superb and worthy of standing ovations.
Love the performances! My husband and I always look forward to them. The last one was Mary Poppins in May 2023. The costumes were so colorful. The prop use with umbrellas and ribbons was visually stunning. The dances were well choreographed. And how lovely to see the little ones start on their dance journey.
I’ve just graduated from OYB and I can confidently say that I wouldn’t be the dancer I am today if it weren’t for this studio❤️ Mrs Laura gives her dancers so many opportunities that would be hard to find anywhere else. I’ve been able to learn how to choreograph and teach a dance class.
Your first ballet class at Okatie Youth Ballet
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
