From the reviews
We went to see Swan Lake. The production was phenomenal! However, I'll say that the seating is extraordinarily tight. There is no shoulder room. If you're on the end of a row, be prepared to step into the aisle rather than just standing to let someone out... very VERY tight.
This is a beautiful place to see a show. It is a smaller, more personal venue. From the old ticket booth as the "Will Call", to the chandeliers, to the beautiful ceilings & interior, the venue itself is a show worth seeing. I saw Blue October in covert there, the sound was great as well.
We are so fortunate to have this gem of a venue in Cedar Rapids. The property is so beautiful and completely restored after the 2008 flood. This a GREAT Place to take in a show. Our party of four attended The Kenny Wayne Shepherd concert they played a two hour non stop show and came back out for two more songs.
I recently attended the ballet performance of Cinderella. Being inside the Paramount is in itself. A great experience. I love the historical ambiance. The staff was pleasant and directed us to our assigned seating. There was concessions of available and the price was not as bad as I feared.
Your first ballet class at Paramount Theatre
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
