From the reviews
Piedmont School of Music and Dance has been so incredible for my child. She started with PSMD at 3 and has grown exponentially since then. When looking for dance schools, I wanted to make sure the quality of the programming, teachers, and performance opportunities were up to par. PSMD exceeds all of my expectations.
My 9 year old daughter took ballet and jazz with Carmen at the concord location. She loved going every week and she enjoyed having Carmen as hee teacher. Carmen is professional, encouraging, patient and kind. I received lots of email communication to keep me informed of everything related to her classes and recital.
We have been attending Piedmont School of Music and Dance for the past eight years and it has been a wonderful experience for my two daughters. The faculty are A+ and provide a strong dance education with a focus on ballet.
We love Ms. Karmen and Ms. Eve! They were such great instructors for our little girl and gave her such confidence and such a love for dance! Our daughter learned so much about the fundamentals of dance and we loved the focus on her learning the actual techniques! We are already so excited for next year!
Your first ballet class at Piedmont School of Music & Dance
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
