From the reviews
Port Townsend ballet is a gem for this city. It’s a beautiful, clean space and welcoming for all ages. Their management is very responsive and helpful with emails and any questions I’ve had. I’ve taken adult beginning dance, and also the “dance with me” class with my toddler.
My daughter has been taking classes here since 2020. It is a well run and organized studio with great communication and a wide variety of classes for young and older folks. As a former performing arts teacher, I appreciate that the studio offers the chance for dancers to perform twice a year.
I am so grateful to have PTB nearby so that my daughter can continue to practice her craft. They have incredible instructors and hold high expectations for their dancers. We look forward to another year and more opportunities for performance with them!
My kids have gone to PT Ballet for several years and they just love it! The teachers are wonderful and the kids look forward to each ballet and tap class. We especially love being part of the annual Nutcracker performance. :-) We are so fortunate to have such a high quality program here in Port Townsend.
Your first ballet class at Port Townsend Ballet
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
