We are so incredibly grateful to have found River Oaks Dance! Our daughter has a disability and it is challenging finding opportunities for her have experiences like her peers. We were thrilled when we heard of the "Everyone Can Dance" program lead by Miss Lucia and her wonderful assistants.
We had our daughter’s 4th birthday party at River Oaks Dance, and it was the BEST decision. Everything was set up when we arrived and they took care of everything while we were there. We had about 14 girls and the instructors taught them a dance to one of Elsa’s songs.
Little Mermaid Birthday Party - the girls had a blast, decorating crowns, getting tutus on, reading in group, learning a dance routine, and being all girly!!! 💕 Loved celebrating my daughter’s birthday at River Oaks Dance!!! Staff was so helpful and worked amazing with the girls throughout the party 🎊
Our girls have taken dance at River Oaks Dance for almost two years now. We absolutely love the studio! The quality of the instruction, kindness of the teachers, and how fun the classes are, are what keeps us coming back. Sara Carbo, the owner, is lovely and so accommodating and friendly.
Your first ballet class at River Oaks Dance - River Oaks
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
