From the reviews
My son discovered his love of Breaking and Hip Hop dance thru The Rockwell program in schools at Ford. Honey and her squad of uber-talented teachers, many who are working professional dancers, encouraged him to try a class in studio, and he was hooked!
I love this place! The Honey Rockwell and the instructors are so supportive and genuinely do it for the love of hip hop and the kids. This is a safe place for kids who want to express themselves through the art of dance! 10/10 recommend!
My son really enjoys RDA and has grown in his break dance skills! His teachers are invested in him not only as a dancer, but as a person!
My son started in Aug. 2025 and has absolutely loved all the classes he has taken. Musical Theatre class really increased his confidence on stage. He is learning new skills, and has made new friends. Hip-Hop dance has been a great class to help him with his beginner dance skills.
Your first ballet class at Rockwell Dance Academy
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
