From the reviews
Janie is by far the best Yoga and Pilates teacher in the Richmond and Mechanicsville area. She has studied Yoga and Pilates for years, obtained her certifications. Janie pushes me to advance my abilities and has made me so much stronger.
My daughter has had an amazing experience at school of dance arts! She is taking ballet with tap & jazz. The instructors provide a very comfortable and structured class. She has grown so much this year in her knowledge, strength, confidence and flexibility.
Stopped in for a children's dance birthday party. Great layout with multiple studios, bathrooms, and plenty of seating for parents. Well maintained and clean! Instruction during the party was well done and age appropriate. The team did a great job of including everyone.
As we are about to start our 2nd year at SODA I just can't say enough great things about this dance school. my daughter has made such wonderful improvements and friends. her teachers are patient and kind and she looks forward to class each and every week. 5 stars!!!
Your first ballet class at School of Dance Arts
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
