From the reviews
My girls have danced with Southwest Dance for 23 years, and throughout that time they have loved their teachers and the friendships they’ve made. One of the highlights of every season is the end-of-year dance concert.
I knew nothing about dance or how to evaluate a studio. My wife however had danced throughout her youth and through College. She had experienced different studios and when it came time for our little girls to begin dancing she looked at many different studios. We knew immediately we made the right decision.
We absolutely LOVED our experience at Southwest Dance company! My daughter danced there from the 4th grade all the way until her Senior year. It is the most positive dance studio around. Where the art of dance is still the focus, and building each dancer individually.
We have been with Southwest Dance Co. for about 9 years. Their "modest moves" and "modest music" was what pulled us in and we've never looked back. We appreciate so much the positive environment that has allowed our daughters to thrive and learn.
Your first ballet class at Southwest Dance Company
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
