From the reviews
My daughter has been dancing since she was 3 with her primary focus being ballet. She is now 10, and she is taking contemporary with Miss Avery for the first time. She absolutely loves the challenge of this new genre of dance, and Miss Avery's instruction is the absolute best!
My family loves this studio. The transition of the new owners has been wonderful. We are very pleased with everyone and all the teachers. The teaching of ballet is very technical. Your children will learn French! My 6 year old son even loves to learn ballet with his sister.
I absolutely LOVE this dance studio!!!! We had tried out quite a few in the Hampton roads area but this one is by far the best. I was looking for more advanced training for my daughter and got exactly that and more. My daughter has been here about 1.5 months and I already see so much progress.
Absolutely the best training in the area. Avery, Kelly and their teachers are absolutely amazing. Highly recommend this studio. You will not be disappointed.
Your first ballet class at Studio 17 Dance
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
