Summit Dance Co. continues to be a wonderful environment for my young daughter, as she explores the world of dance! The teachers are kind, fun and encouraging. After mediocre experiences at other local dance studios, we are so grateful to have found Summit!
Our two children danced with teachers at Summit from very early ages (2 and four) and absolutely love them! The way they encourage the dancers while also giving lessons in proper technique is so wonderful. I danced when I was young, but ended up with a lot of injuries due to poor form.
Our family has only had wonderful experiences at summit. It is our daughters home away from home and where our son is starting his school career. The owners, teachers and staff are some of the nicest, profession and talented people. You couldn’t find a better place to help your children grow as dancers and humans.
Your first ballet class at Summit Dance Co
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
