From the reviews

We have been with APA for 10 years, and we love it.we started with Mommy and Me and are working our way to jazz, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, and poms! If any type of issue has appeared, they have always done their best to resolve it as quickly as possible.

★★★★★ — Jessica, Apr 2025

Our daughter has been attending APA dance for just about 5 years and it has been a wonderful experience! The staff is attentive, understanding, and you can tell they really enjoy what they do. Besides attending for dance, our daughter also attends for piano, and our youngest son for voice lessons as well.

★★★★★ — Dan, Sep 2018

My daughters have loved their first year at APA! The Tap & Ballet combo class for 3 and 4 year olds has been a great fit for our little ladies. They are excited to attend every week and have grown throughout the year in skill and confidence.

★★★★★ — Stacey, May 2022

My daughter has been attending APA for 8+ years now and she still loves it! The teachers are positive and encouraging while still challenging the dancers to improve their skills and technique.

Your first ballet class at The Academy of Performing Arts

Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.

Ballet is for every age and every body. If you're returning from an injury or have a health concern, mention it to the teacher before class so they can offer modifications.
