I can not say enough positive things about The Dance House and am truly happy a studio like this opened in Monmouth County. Unlike the past studio we were at, this studio puts their dancers and their families best interests at heart.
The Dance House in Shrewsbury has been an amazing experience for our family. This is my daughter’s third year here, and she absolutely loves it. The environment is so welcoming and supportive, and you can really see how much the instructors care about the kids.
The Dance House 12/10! We tried dance classes for my (now) 6yo in our area and they never really met our expectations. We gave up for a few years and then when her little sister (2) expressed interest we knew we’d have to travel from Asbury Park to check out a better studio. The Dance House, Miss Jackie & Miss.
We absolutely love The Dance House! My preschooler looks forward to her tap and ballet class every single week. The instructors are so patient, kind, and engaging. They really know how to connect with young children while still teaching proper technique and building confidence.
Your first ballet class at The Dance House
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
