The programs they offer
“I took some dance classes for a few years as a child but it had been close to 20 years before I started taking classes as an adult at TDF.”
“For year-long classes, they hold an annual "showcase" (recital) which allows all dancers--adults and children--to show off what they've learned.”
“Two talented choreographers who are methodically adaptive with the class and are just a pleasant to learn from.”
What families & students say
“I came in for a beginner hip hop class, and ended up taking a performance class because I loved my instructor so much. Dori is a great instructor and Nadine has been great.”
“They offer a great mix of both performance and non-performance classes, including classes that are beginner friendly for adults new to dance.”
“I found the instructors to be clear, helpful, and encouraging; the choreo to be fun; and the environment to be friendly and supportive.”

From the reviews
I started taking classes at TDF as a way to stay active while quarantined during COVID-19. It was the most welcoming, judgement free, fun experience I have had in years! I haven't taken dance since elementary school, and I just had the best time.
So I am sitting here having a crappy day at work. Opened up YT and the song suggestion is what we have been practicing for! I listened to it - dancing in my head.. Totally made my day.. That is the kind of experience you get learning to dance with Nadine and Dori.. It is personally momentous.
My time at Troy Dance Factory has been a transformative experience and has meant so much to me. The friendships I’ve forged, the skills I’ve acquired, and the confidence I’ve built have all profoundly impacted my world.
Absolutely amazing experience taking my first ever dance class at TDF! I was a little nervous but that was alleviated in the first 10 minutes of the first class. The environment was welcoming and safe and SO FUN, I will definitely be taking more classes.
Adult ballet at Troy Dance Factory, LLC
Troy Dance Factory, LLC runs classes for grown-ups, going by their listing and students’ reviews. If you've never taken ballet, or you're coming back to it after years away, this is for you — and a good studio genuinely welcomes a nervous first-timer. A few things worth asking before you go. First, which class to start in — look for one labeled "absolute beginner" or "adult beginner" rather than an open or "all levels" class, so you learn the fundamentals at the right pace. Second, drop-in or term — many adult programs let you pay per class to try it, then move to a term or monthly package once you're hooked. Third, what to wear — comfortable clothes you can move in, plus socks or bare feet, are plenty for a first class; you won't need a leotard or ballet shoes to walk in the door. It's never too late for first position.
Your first ballet class at Troy Dance Factory, LLC
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
