From the reviews
We love the Tutu School. We first visited when my daughter was around 2yo for a parent-participatory mixed-age class. It was pretty chaotic. The teacher was not unkind, but she certainly didn’t have that special touch that it takes to motivate a room of small toddlers and their parents.
We love tutu school! The teachers are so incredibly patient and loving with my 3 year old who’s been attending for a year. She learns so much! They make learning ballet very comfortable and fun.
I’m not sure how they do it, but they have the best teachers. Miss Michelle teaches my 7yo and she meets her at her level. She teaches her a lot of physiology as well as ballet history and terminology while keeping with the tutu school standard of magic and fun.
I started taking my daughter to Tutu School since May 2022 when she was 2.5 years old. She loves it there, and we always have lots of fun in classes. The teachers are very experienced dancers who are great with toddlers. They made ballet a fun experience.
Your first ballet class at Tutu School West Portal
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
