From the reviews
UMDA is the best dance studio in El Paso!! The owners, Michelle and Sergio, are simply amazing. They work with your dancer to train and help them grow to new heights. They are caring, knowledgeable and are willing to go the extra mile with your dancer. I would recommend this studio above any other.
I can’t say enough great things about Urban Dance Movement Academy! From the moment we walked in, we felt the positive and welcoming environment. The energy is contagious — the teachers are not only incredibly talented and passionate, but they also genuinely care about each student’s growth and development.
Im a dancer, I’ve been at the studio since It first started . I love the environment, not toxic at all and the teachers and owners are very nice and respectful. Their drop ins are also really fun to take, and when you’re on a team, it’s very exciting to meet new people joining.
Amazing studio! I have had amazing training with my time here. Very inclusive and supportive environment!
Your first ballet class at Urban Movement Dance Academy
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
