From the reviews
I have been with Westside ever since it has opened and to say that Shelby and her classes are amazing is an understatement. Everyone at the studio provides an atmosphere dedicated to learning and it’s a judgement free zone which is wonderful for those who don’t feel so confident in their dancing yet.
Had the pleasure of attending their Spring 2019 recital and you can tell the talent there is bar none. The teachers clearly have an influence on their dancers and really take the time to develop their students’ abilities.
Westside has become my second home. It is such a fun and upbeat environment. My favorite part about dancing at westside is that it is a judgement free zone. I also love how driven every one is and how much the teachers actually care about each dancer as and individual.
Shelby, the owner, is fantastic! She is a genius choreographer, teacher and extremely talented. The studio is in a great location.
Your first ballet class at Westside Dance Company
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
