My daughter has been at WBDC for many years and this staff/studio has become our second family. They work so closely with each of the dancers to learn their personality and style, always focused on improving their skills and confidence.
My daughter started dancing at WBDC about 3 years ago. We instantly felt a part of another family. The teachers and owners understand these are kids and not only dress them appropriately for competitions and recitals, but also make age appropriate dances.
Hands down best studio ever! Amazing teachers, owners, and families. Excellent choreography and age appropriate costumes. Jenny and Katie do an amazing job building the dancers technique, confidence, stage presence and overall leadership skills. The studio holds the dancers to high standards and it shows.
My daughter has been dancing at WBDC for 11 years. We absolutely love it, it has become our 2nd family! With covid they are taking all the precautions to make sure our dancers stay safe and still have fun learning and being with their friends.
Your first ballet class at White Bear Dance Center
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
