Youth Dance Ensemble is a great place to dance! The studio offers high-quality instruction in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, musical theater, and hip-hop. We also have a boys'/young men's class! The environment among the students, staff, and families is nurturing and the supportive.
We've been part of the YDE community for about eight years. I have a dance background and was looking for a school that offered both excellent ballet technique AND exposure to other dance styles. YDE has met those expectations and more!
YDE is exactly what we were searching for in a dance school for our daughter -- strong, technical dance training in a supportive and creative environment, with the opportunity to perform competition-quality dance in a variety of non-competitive settings.
This has been a fantastic dance studio for my daughter. She has grown so much as a dancer in the 5 years she has been with the studio. We love the instructors, they are kind, professional, challenging, creative and innovative. We love being a part of this dance community. Highly recommend.
Your first ballet class at Youth Dance Ensemble & School
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
