From the reviews
This is by far the best dance studio in Turlock if you want solid well-rounded training! I danced here my entire childhood from age four to in my twenties. I have gone on to choreograph professionally, win national awards, and have opened my own dance studio in Las Vegas, Nevada!
Our daughter attended BAD for around 4 years, up until we moved, and we just have nothing but good things to say about the studio. Our daughter loved her classes and teachers, and looked forward to it every week.
My 12 year old daughter started going to backstage 1.5 years ago and we have been extremely happy. She has done so well we have gone from 1 class per week to 4 classes. The Nutcracker performance and recital was absolutely wonderful. I love her dance teachers. Alex is excellent!
I have danced at BAD for many years and I have always enjoyed it. The instructors are so nice and they are very patient and lenient. You don't have to be amazing at dance as long as you're trying. They will push you to be better but not more than you can handle.
Your first ballet class at Backstage Academy of Dance
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
