Sydney is a beginner dancer and I wasn’t sure if she was going to enjoy doing this . I brought her to a trial class 2 years ago . She ended up talking about the class all day long . We started with just pre ballet and now we have added a jazz /tap combo class .
My daughter has been with Chesapeake Dance for two years. It has been an amazing experience for her and she has grown so much in dance. She has been dancing since age 2 and since she has been with Chesapeake Dance we have really seen her progress.
I have two children in Chesapeake Dance and we are thrilled with the girls progress since starting. We started over the summer and also enrolled our girls in summer camps. The girls love their special dance classes and Miss Barbara is top notch. She is truly a gem and so incredible with the girls.
My family has been at Chesapeake Dance Center for the past 5 years. My 3 daughters have learned so much and have created a family there! Miss Barbra and staff have taught them well. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. My son dances there too. I recommend the studio to all!
Your first ballet class at Chesapeake Dance Center
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
