From the reviews
When we moved to town seven years ago, my daughter was in the beginning stages of ballet having only been in ballet for two years (starting at the age of 5). We asked our dance instructor from home if she had any recommendations and she recommended City Ballet. Our daughter was accepted into a beginner class (red 2).
We just moved here from outside of Washington D.C. and attended the Fall performance of Alice in Wonderland and the Picture of Dorian Gray. A former ballet dancer myself, I was tremendously impressed by the technical level of all the dancers, as well as the professional production values of choreography, costumes,…
I have two children who have attended City Ballet for the past 4 years. The attention to detail in class and care for each individual is amazing. The quality performances are always a joy to watch. As an audience member, I am always in awe of the hard work and professionalism put into each performance.
We just moved here from Texas back in June and were trying to find a place for our daughters' to do ballet. This place was rated the best! They are very nice and kind to everyone! And I love how they teach all the positions. Even to our little 4 year old.
Your first ballet class at City Ballet of Wilmington
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
