We love JFK and the coaches at the Elk River studio. Director Karissa has everything so well organized to make it fun for the kids and easy for the parents. Communication is very well done and response time is above and beyond.
I was fearful of dance for so long because of what I was seeing from other studios. I didn't want the fancy, expensive, age inappropriate costumes and competitions for our daughter. But when our family walked into Just for Kix 5 years ago, it was a breath of fresh air.
Welcoming environment, very personable, granddaughter loves it and Karissa is truly an amazing director that has a beautiful, clean studio and her staff are wonderful with the kiddos. My daughter was in the Just for Kix program 24 yrs ago, then my niece 13 years ago and now on year 2 with my Granddaughter.
I have been so pleased with our experience at Just For Kix, Elk River! The director, Karissa is fabulous at keeping us informed. As a gramma new to the dance world she has been so patient, helpful, and quick to answer any questions I have had.
Your first ballet class at Just For Kix
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
