The programs they offer
“It has been truly a joy to watch my daughters grow and thrive as dancers over the years, all because of the wonderful environment at Scripps Performing Art Academy (SPAA).”
“Took the open level ballet class on Tuesday evening and loved how encouraging and supportive the instructor, Audrey Bondoc, was to her teen and adult students.”
“Over the years she has progressed to pointe and moved from beginning to intermediate to advanced class levels when she was physically and emotionally ready.”
What families & students say
“Each year, we look forward to our children performing in the Nutcracker, not only they teach them great ballet techniques, but also great skills for life.”
“My daughter attended the musical theater summer camp for the first time this year and absolutely loved it.”
“Our son has always loved to dance and we knew he would need structure and guidance as well as flexibility to still be a kid.”

“I also appreciate that it’s a little more laid back than some - for instance the yearly “recital” is really a “demonstration of learning” and doesn’t require any fancy costume.”
“Miah, this academy and the affiliated Scripps Ballet Company.”
From the reviews
10 Billion Stars. PLEASE READ THIS! YOU WILL LEARN ALOT IF YOU ARE A NEW TO DANCE STUDIOS OR LOOKING FOR A NEW DANCE/THEATRE HOME. In the beginning, my daughter and I went around to about 5 local dance studios to see where our best fit was and to sort of "interview" them.
We were in search of a dance program for our son and, after contacting several schools across the county, Scripps Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) stood above the rest in both vision and approach. Our son has always loved to dance and we knew he would need structure and guidance as well as flexibility to still be a kid.
Nothing but good things to say about our experience at SPAA. About six years ago when we were looking for a new ballet studio for our daughter Erin (10 years old at the time), Ms Miah and SPAA were recommended to us as a top notch non-competition ballet focused studio.

Both of them have danced at other local studios, with great confidence I do believe SPAA is a wonderful studio and I will highly recommend.
Your first ballet class at Scripps Performing Arts Academy Carmel Valley
Nervous about walking into your first class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects beginners, whether your dancer is five or you're returning at fifty. Here's what to know. What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in, with socks or bare feet; a leotard and tights are nice if you have them, but not required, and pointe shoes are years down the road — never day one. What to expect: class usually starts at the barre with slow, simple movements to warm up, then moves to the center — follow along, copy the teacher, and don't worry about getting it "right" the first time. Arrive early: come 10–15 minutes ahead to change, find a spot, and let the teacher know it's a first class so they can keep an eye out. It gets easier fast — most people feel far more at home by their third class.
